Fresh Squeezed Lemonade Recipe

I don’t know about you, but in Minnesota we are experiencing record breaking cold weather! The chickens are safe in their coop, and the kids and I are hunkered indoors – pretending it’s summer.

Henry had the brilliant idea to make some Fresh Squeezed Lemonade – so here we are.

Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

1 Cup Lemon Juice (6-8 lemons fresh squeezed)
8 Cups Water
1 1/4 Cups Sugar

Squeeze the juice from 6-8 lemons to get roughly one cup of juice. Set aside.

Add 1 cup of water and the 1 1/4 cup of sugar to a pot to cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Roughly 5 minutes. Once dissolved, set aside to cool.

Pour your lemon juice and the remaining water into a pitcher. I like to actually do about 4 cups of ice and 4 cups of water to help chill the simple syrup.

Add the syrup to your pitcher, stir, and enjoy.

Adding some sliced lemons to the pitcher will continue to add flavor to your delicious drink.

Dreaming of Summer

Kids always seem to know how to make the best out of any situation don’t they? When life throws you 50 below windchills….make lemonade.

Henry and I sure enjoyed pretending we were on a tropical vacation. It beats the reality of the snowstorm gusting at our front door. I just know we’ll be taking this recipe out quite a bit as the weather turns, and it is sure to become a summertime staple at The Little Green Wagon.
